The architect listing permits a state or provincial licence as an alternative to the listed degree. Establish what the document authorizes and its validity, while assessing the proposed duties separately.
Separate qualification from permission to practise
Provide the actual licence and relevant verification, not only a membership description. Ask the destination state’s regulator about practice requirements for the proposed work. Meeting the TN credential alternative does not waive those requirements or establish that a procurement-heavy position is architectural work. Citizenship, prearranged qualifying activities and temporary entry also remain necessary.
A first review should make a three-column comparison: the listed profession, the offered duties, and the applicant’s credential. The deciding records are usually the signed employer letter, detailed duty list, diploma or licence, and citizenship document. Resolve a title mismatch before arranging travel; a title such as coordinator may be harmless only if the described work truly calls for the selected profession. TN also requires prearranged work for an employer and cannot authorize work performed through the applicant’s own controlled enterprise. Hypothetical example: a museum collections registrar is offered a role labelled ‘exhibitions manager.’ The letter should identify whether the work is professional curatorial analysis or mainly event scheduling. If the underlying duties do not match a listed profession, changing the label will not settle the problem. The applicant should obtain an accurate duty breakdown and select the route only after the record supports it.
