Identify the specific credential route and evidence being used. A generic document package may not answer the actual qualification question.
Tie the expense to the selected evidence
For a foreign degree from an institution outside Canada, Mexico and the United States, a reliable credential evaluation is required. A licence-based claim raises its own verification questions; do not assume paying for an unrelated evaluation establishes it. Foreign-language USCIS records need full certified English translations. Verify current government fees and professional scope separately from these document costs.
Separate public charges from personal and employer expenses. The current CBP charge applies to a direct TN admission request, while an employer-filed Form I-129 has USCIS charges that should be checked in the current fee schedule. Translation, credential-review, travel, and dependent-document costs are separate line items. A first review should name the payer for each item and retain receipts, especially where the employer reimburses an expense. Hypothetical example: a prosthetics laboratory technologist and a U.S. clinic disagree about whether to use a direct admission request or an employer petition. Build two dated budgets using the current government fee pages, then add only costs that truly apply, such as a translation for a non-English record. The decision is not which route has the lower remembered fee; it is which route fits the start date and has a complete, credible record. Avoid a payment arrangement that makes the worker appear to be financing a job created for personal benefit.
