The spouse’s actual status, validity and relevant immigration steps need review. A corporate announcement alone is not a complete status determination.
Keep company facts and individual records connected
Collect the principal’s and spouse’s current approval and admission records and identify any proposed filing or travel. Qualifying L spouses may work incident to valid status with appropriate evidence; the business change does not itself prove extension or loss of that status. Review the specific effect with counsel rather than extrapolating from payroll changes.
A qualifying L-2 spouse may work incident to valid L-2 status, while an unmarried child under 21 may study but does not receive that spousal work benefit. Create a family table with passports, relationship records, dates of birth, intended activity, and any occupation-specific licence issue. That prevents the principal’s petition from being mistaken for evidence of every dependent’s readiness. Hypothetical example: a transit signal systems executive will relocate with a spouse who plans to work as a dental laboratory technician and a child nearing 21. The spouse should confirm destination licensing requirements separately, and the family should calculate whether the child will remain within the derivative definition on the relevant dates. The decisive records are the admission documents, civil records, and licensing board requirements, not an employer’s relocation promise. Address these points before booking a shared move.
