Special knowledge of the company's product, service, research, equipment, techniques, management or other interests, or an advanced level of knowledge of its processes and procedures. General industry skill alone does not establish it, but the qualifying knowledge need not be proprietary or unique.
What the organization knows, not what the field knows
Knowledge of a regeneration sequence developed inside the company, recorded in its own schedules and refined against its own field results, can support this category, but qualifying knowledge need not be proprietary or unique. A recognised industry certification, a trade qualification or long general experience does not establish specialized knowledge by itself, even where it makes the employee a strong candidate. The other conditions match the managerial route: a qualifying relationship between the entities, both actively doing business, and one continuous year of full-time qualifying employment abroad within the preceding three years. The U.S. position itself must require the specialized knowledge, which is a separate finding from whether the employee happens to possess it. Where the employee will be primarily stationed at an unaffiliated employer's worksite, the petition must address petitioner control and supervision and show that the placement is not essentially an arrangement to supply labour for hire.
Hypothetical example: an aeroengine-lubricant blender wants to transfer the chemist who created its internal contamination-response method. The first review should produce a plain-language technical summary beside the underlying formula controls, training records, and U.S. task list. Internal version history settles whether the knowledge belongs to this company; the assignment description settles why it is needed. Start with the knowledge record, then test the foreign employment period and corporate relationship. The common error is emphasizing a respected chemistry credential while never showing what is uncommon about the employer's own method.
