The Forester listing accepts a state or provincial licence as an alternative to a baccalaureate degree, so a current provincial registration can be the credential. What it cannot do is prove that the offered duties are professional forestry; that comes from the employer’s description of the work.
The licence answers one question and leaves the other open
Treat the registration as the deciding document for the credential test and gather the complete record for it: the certificate, evidence that it is in good standing on the date of application and the regulator’s contact details in case an officer wants to verify it. Then turn to the second question, which is whether the job is forestry. Harvest planning, growth modelling, silvicultural prescriptions and environmental compliance reporting are professional tasks; hauling, scaling and machine operation are not, even when a forester does some of them.
The employer’s letter should be specific about the proportion of professional work. Canadian citizenship is separately required and must be shown with a passport or citizenship certificate; a permanent resident card does not qualify anyone for TN. Finally, confirm that the work is temporary in intent, even if it may be renewed, and that the employer is a U.S.
entity or a foreign entity with a U.S. project.
